I was eyeing this cooker (which also comes in black: Hamilton Beach Programmable Slow Cooker 4.5 Quart Cooks 4 Lb Chicken) and Cuisinart PSC-350 3-1/2-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker when someone made up my mind for me and got me this one for Christmas.Now Cuisinart's has an extra cooking temperature and longer cook and keep warm times, but this one has a larger capacity (4.5 vs. their 3.5 quart) and a wrap-around heating element. It's still working as great as it did when I first purchased it. I've cooked several different meals in this slow cooker including cabbage, Italian chicken, bbq ribs, chili, and creamed corn. The settings all work as you would expect them to. No trouble with the cooker not switching to warm automatically. The timer starts and ends when I expect it to. No leaking, no fuss.I've popped the ceramic bowl into the dishwasher and it comes out clean with no scratches or anything so cleanup is a breeze. I'm very satisfied with this purchase. This is actually my second slow cooker. I still own the first one and it works great too but I purchased this one for larger dishes (my other one is smaller) and for the timer (so I can feel comfortable leaving the cooker on while I'm at work). I made a mistake once, putting food directly into the holder. I could have damaged it, but luckily I didn't. |
