The Amazon tripod broke in the first few minutes I used it, below the mount area. The top mounting platform snapped off and is not usable or fixable.Amazon did replace this item, even without my request. Gotta give Amazon service 5 stars for that. I ordered a similar gorilla pod & think it is worth the extra money. The Amazon tripod is a little taller, but less flexible and a little heavier. I have a Joby Gorillapod GP1, and was eager to compare this offering from AmazonBasics to it. Sadly, it does not measure up to the Gorillapod. The way the leg sections are hinged, the legs can't be positioned as flexibility as the Gorillapod. Each leg section can rotate almost 180 degrees, but only in one direction, and they are alternately offset 90 degrees. My camera is an Olympus PEN E-PL1 and prior to getting the AmazonBasics tripod I tended to use a Sunpak Mini-Spider Tripod. All things considered a fairly beefy camera (short of a full blown SLR) on a rather dainty, albeit incredibly affordable, tripod. The combo works well enough but the Sunpak tripod has a tendency to spring against a positioning or sink in to a new positioning depending on the way its oriented. On the other hand the Sunpak isn't much bigger than a Sharpie marker which makes it amazingly portable and yeah, it's less than $3.On to the AmazonBasics Tripod which I have uploaded various pictures of available at the top with the product images.
