Then, one day, I bought one. Wow, this thing is nice. I never thought I'd say that about a trash can.We keep this in our kitchen. I finally caved and bought it so we'd have a place to toss garbage and recycling and have it all look nice. It fits those needs very well. We buy the simplehuman bags for the trash side. They work great. On the recycle side, I put in the free bag that came with it (I think it came with two, actually) and whenever it fills up, I take it out to the garage and sort the bottles, cans, etc into the bigger bins out there. After many months, we're still on the original recycle-side bag. I taped the reciept to the inside of the stainless steel part of the bin. This cost enough I plan to make good on the warranty (10-years, I think) if it breaks. I gently pounded that out with a mallet. The metal on these cans is not very thick, which makes them lighter than my previous Simple Human can (a plus to me). It's not quite as easy to get the larger side out (for trash) as I would like but that is in large part because I can stuff so much into it that it's heavy to lift. I used a different brand of bag with my previous Simple Human trash can. I use the ones fitted for this and they handle a decent load.The Simple Human bag for the right side (for recyclables) is slightly over-sized but again no big deal. A large family would be emptying both sides of this often but it's just right for one or two people. I like the lid mechanism better than my previous can as well. It makes no noise and always closes perfectly. This is a great can for small households. |
